Import and complete security questionnaires
If you've been sent a security questionnaire as an Excel document, you can import it, complete it, and then export it to return to the sender using UpGuard's Trust Exchange.
Create a Trust Exchange account
UpGuard's Trust Exchange is free to use, and it takes only a few moments to get started. Don't have an UpGuard account yet? Sign up to create your account and begin answering questionnaires in minutes.
Import a security questionnaires
You can import any security questionnaire formatted as an Excel document.
- Click the Trust Exchange icon from UpGuard’s left-hand navigation.
- Click Answer Questionnaires from the left navigation.
- Click Import questionnaire.
- Fill in the fields on the importer:
- Select the .xlsx questionnaire you want to import.
- Name: Name the questionnaire.
- The name of the organization requesting you fill out the questionnaire.
- (optional) Due date.
- Click Next.
- The questionnaire will begin importing.
- Review how the questionnaire is being configured. Check that question, answer, and heading columns are appropriately mapped.
- Click Set Q&A columns.
- Your questionnaire is imported! Now you can continue answering to begin filling out the questionnaire.
Once the file has been imported, you can answer it as you would any other questionnaire. Return to the questionnaire at any time and view your progress, see a history of changes, and export either the original import or the completed document to return it to the sender.

Configure .xlsx import
UpGuard will automatically parse standardized questionnaires to determine which columns contain questions, requirements, and answer options. You can adjust these specifications or set them (if UpGuard was unable to automatically process the questionnaire).
What to do:
- Select which sheets to include. Sheets are listed at the top of the modal. By default, all sheets are included. Uncheck Include this sheet to exclude a sheet. You’ll need to exclude any instruction sheets or sheets that don’t have questions/answers.
- Tell UpGuard how to read each sheet.
