Learn about Vendor Snapshots and how they differ from Monitored Vendors in UpGuard

Monitoring vendors in UpGuard allows you to continuously monitor an organization, and to see changes in their security rating over time, and perform risk management activities like performing risk assessments, sending security questionnaires and requesting remediation. When you just need a point-in-time view of a vendor's security posture or evaluating an organization for a potential engagement, vendor snapshots can be a useful tool to do that, without adding to your monitored vendor list

Vendor Snapshots

An vendor snapshot allows you to view the external risks of a particular vendor for 30 days. The most common use case is to help with the due diligence process when assessing or comparing potential vendors.

To view your vendor snapshots, navigate to Vendors in the sidebar, and then select the Snapshot tab.

You can see the risk rating information and breakdown for a vendor snapshot by navigating to the summary page (as per monitored vendors) and also generate a Vendor summary or detailed report.

You can also see a list of you expired snapshots so you can keep track of organizations you have viewed before. If you decide to engage that vendor and want to continuously monitor them, you can upgrade a snapshot vendor (active or expired) to a monitored vendor at any time by selecting Monitor vendor from the list or detailed view.

When you add a vendor to your monitored vendor list, UpGuard will continuously monitor the organization and you will be able to see changes in their security rating over time, as they occur.

To view your monitored vendors, navigate to Vendors in the sidebar.
