Getting Started with UpGuard: Part 3

This guide discusses functionality from across product tiers and may reference functionality not available on your account.

Step 1: Prep your team

  • Let your team know that you’re implementing a new software. Share why you’re making a change and what might be different (and better!) for them now. If they’ll be expected to follow a new process: you can tell them that that change is coming and more details will be coming.
  • Share new processes and expectations as you have them. As you switch to working in UpGuard, you’ll identify places where a process might be different than what you did before. That’s good! but change can be hard. Let your team know what they’re expected to do and what they can expect in return as things change.

Step 2: Invite your team

For Vendor Risk

Invite anyone who will be monitoring vendors by monitoring risks, running assessments, or sending questionnaires.

For Breach Risk

Invite anyone who will be monitoring or managing risks. Team members who only need to view information can be added as read-only.

Step 3: Set up notifications

Each user manages their own UpGuard notifications (in-app and email). Edit standard notifications from Home > Manage Notifications.

Admins can also create custom notifications for their users. Each user turns on the notifications they want. We recommend a few different notifications.

Related to vendors and the industry

  • Incidents and news related to specific industries (e.g., portfolios).
  • A vendor’s score drops below a key threshold.
  • A vendor’s score drops below the accepted level for their tier.
  • A drop of ‘x’ points for any vendor in a given day.
Related to your company
  • Risk above ‘x’ severity added
  • Domain or IP score drops below ‘x’
  • Score drops below ‘x’
  • Score drops by ‘x’ in ‘y’ days
  • Vulnerability detected

Step 4: Dedicated product set up

Now that you have all of your frameworks set up, it’s time to get into specifics.
