Use Risk Automation Templates

Overview

UpGuard’s pre-built automation templates allow you to deploy workflows with zero (or minimal) building on your part. Templates are complete end-to-end workflows and include notes explaining what each step in the process does.

Templates are ideal for:

  • people who are new to automations (but who want to start learning!)

  • new and experienced users with a matching use case

We’re creating templates for our customer’s most popular use cases and are always adding to our template library.

💡 Have an idea for a template you’d like us to build? We’re actively expanding our library! Reach out to your CSM with your use case, they'll help gather information and pass the idea to our product team.

Use a template

Using a template is easy, you’ll select a template: add API keys (if needed), test the workflow, and activate it. That’s it.

Don’t have access to API keys? Or feeling nervous, but curious: you can still follow the steps below to test and experiment with workflows without adding API keys and without activating the workflow. Let’s dive in.

  1. Click the Risk Automations icon in UpGuard’s left-hand navigation.

  2. Click Templates.

  3. Search for and select the template you want to use. You’ll be taken to a template overview page with:

    1. The template’s canvas. This shows all of the workflow’s nodes, each node is accompanied by a sticky note with related explanations or instructions.

    2. The template’s description.

    3. A last updated date.

    4. Apps used in the workflow.

  4. Read the template’s description to make sure it does what you want it to.

  5. Click Use this template.

  6. If your template includes integrations you’ll land on a Setup Credentials page. You can:
    1. Authenticate integrations now: click + Add credential and authenticate each required app. Then click Continue.

    2. Authenticate later: click Set up later. This lets you start working with the workflow now without worrying about API keys.

Congratulations, you just used a template! A new workflow, replicating the selected template, is created and you’re automatically taken to it. You can now work with it the same way you would any other workflow.

Configure, test, and activate your workflow

  1. Configure existing nodes where needed.

    1. Example: If you used the AI Security Briefing, you’ll select the Slack node and designate what channel to send a message to. You can also edit the text that’s posted in the Slack message.

  2. (Optional) Modify the workflow. If you’re comfortable, or if you want to explore, you can use the template as a starting point and add and remove nodes to tailor the workflow to your exact needs.

  3. Test and activate your workflow. Once you’ve authenticated all required apps and configured nodes, you’ll be able to test your workflow. If it’s working as expected, use the toggle to activate your workflow. Once activated, the workflow will run anytime a trigger event occurs.
